| | Oklahoma Bikers - BIKERS USA has revamped the Oklahoma motorcycle events section to be used for Oklahoma biker rights and other Oklahoma biker resources. |
 | | | For 40 years, bikers have complained about their helmets, but as of Halloween, 2007, there were only 20 official complaints going back to 1995 on file at the NHTSA. There are 500,000 helmets recalled and most are probably on our heads! Tell NHTSA to force helmet makers to make helmets they are willing to stand behind and are rated for 70 mph. If they made a better product, the government would not have to force people to wear these torture devices. Make your motorcycle helmet complaint official by filing it online now! Update: Within the first 48 hours of the Halloween 2007 Campaign, the number of official helmet complaints on file doubled compared to the last 12 years! Please tell all bikers they should be making their helmet complaints official. It’s easy! For more info, see Bikers of Lesser Tolerance, B.O.L.T. |

 | | | Update on the Oklahoma Tattoo legislative proposals: 4/18/2006 I am pleased to report that SB 806, the Artistic Tattooing Regulation and Legalization Bill, was APPROVED by the Oklahoma House of Representatives at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City yesterday. The bill now goes to the Oklahoma State Senate for approval, and then to Governor Brad Henry's office for signature. Completion of this process will hopefully bring to a close an embarrassing chapter in our state's history by allowing Artistic Tattooing in the LAST state in our Nation where it has continued to be illegal. In a nutshell, Artistic Tattooing establishments will be licensed after the tattoo artists pay a fee, post a bond, take courses on health, hygiene and communicable diseases, and comply with Oklahoma Department of Health established standards. I'm confident that the Senate will pass this bill, and that the Governor will sign it, but we can't take that for granted. All Oklahoma Registered Voters are strongly urged to visit, call, write or e-mail their State Senators and ask them to vote to PASS SB 806, the "Tattoo Bill", emphasizing how it's an important Public Health issue, and when it IS passed, to call Governor Henry's office and request that he sign it into law. Please be sure to encourage all your friends to do the same. I'm willing to bet that it'll go into effect on Nov. 1 after signature (without an Emergency Designator attached) to allow sufficient time for Tattoo Parlors to satisfy the multiple requirements prior to opening up. Many thanks to those believers in Freedom of Artistic Expression who worked so hard in getting us as close to Regulated Artistic Tattooing in the Sooner State as we've ever been. I'll provide further updates as I get them--please contact me if you have any questions. Well, have a good week, and I'll see you on the Road. In Liberty, Tiger Mike Revere State Coordinator ABATE of Oklahoma, Inc. Editors Note: OK legislators need to understand that outlawing tattoo shops in Okalahoma represents a health risk, because tattoos will still be done - in illegal back alley shops. Forging laws so that legitimate tattoo artists can do business, is the best answer. Best of luck getting this important piece of legislation passed this year. |
