ABATE Swap Meet

I am looking forward to the ABATE Swap Meet in Atlanta, Ga. this
January 22. This is the largest biker's swap meet in the southeast. Bikers
from the surrounding state travel to Lakewood Fairground in Atlanta, Ga.
The bikers can find all kind of motorcycle parts or leather wear for the
coming riding year.
Well, winter weather has set in and it is too cold to ride very
long. This year will probably be like last year. All the bikers were
looking for a hot cup of coffee instead of a cold beer. January is the time
to enter your bike into the ABATE Bike Show. There are very few bikes
entered this time of year and you are bound to win something. This swap
meet is about the only big event that is held during the middle of winter.
Most of the bikers I know are hold up in a warm bar somewhere. I
like to sit in front of a cracking fire with my favorite drink (hot
chocolate). About this time of the season, I start to get cabin fever after
two days of sitting in front of a fireplace and I am ready to ride. This is
when I ride my bike to end of the drive way and turn around. It is just too
cold to ride that bike on a 240 mile round trip to Lakewood. A warm truck
always works better at this time of the year.
Like all A.B.A.T.E. swap meets there's always some kind of good
deal to be found during the day. I found food and any kind of motorcycle
part that you would need. Also, they had prizes to be given away during the
event. I hope to see Reese & Kim Roberts of North Georgia Traders of
Cumming, Ga. I haven't seen them since Thunder Over Georgia in Jasper, Ga.
The next swap meet will be on February 26, 2006 at Lakewood
