North House Museum

He sold the house in 1830 to James Frazier who operated it as the popular Star Tavern for those attending court proceedings. Organ Cave

Organ Cave was opened commercially in 1835 and has been thrilling visitors ever since. According to legend, Thomas Jefferson discovered the skeletal remains of a dinosaur in this cave. The remains are in Philadelphia, PA. During the Civil War this cave was mined for saltpeter, a component in gunpowder.

Tours and groups are welcome. Each self-guided half mile tour visits 10 stations of nature's spectacular formations and takes about 45 minutes. The temperature of the Lost World Caverns is a constant 50 degrees all year long. A light jacket or sweater and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Old Stone Church

Confederate Cemetary

Greenbrier County Library

This building was erected in 1834 as a library for visiting jurists staying at the North House across the street. During the Civil War it was used as a hospital and as a Masonic Lodge after the war. It was acquired by the city in 1939 and has been used as a library ever since.
